Dump the Pump Day

The Vineyard Transit Authority invites Island residents and visitors to ride its buses on Thursday, June 19 as part of the third annual nationwide Dump the Pump Day.

In honor of the day, Vineyard Transit will offer half-price fares, excluding 31-day and annual passes.

Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association, the day encourages people to ride public transportation to save money, conserve gasoline and help reduce greenhouse gases.

Vineyard Transit also is sponsoring an event with food and music from 5 to 9 p.m. that day at Hostelling International of Martha’s Vineyard on the Edgartown-West Tisbury Road, West Tisbury. More information is available by calling 508-693-9440.
