KATHIE CASE

Fourth of July is one week from today. After talking to a lot of people, most have agreed that it should be later in the summer. I think after the heat wave in May and the good weather in June we are confused at the time of summer it is. Anyway, people are painting fences and getting their window boxes ready with red, white and blue flowers.
Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. I think by September I should have the new birthday list.
The beach gang is slowly getting together. Everyone has been busy and the weather has not been the greatest but a small group gets together. This week we welcomed back Ian of Vineyard Vines and his friend Jamie. Also Kevin, Liz, Zack and Brook Ward are back from Florida. As we all know the beach is much smaller but I’m sure we will all gather together somewhere.
I hope not too many people missed the double rainbow on Tuesday evening. My niece Tina burst into the house with excitement and said you have to come out and see this. She had just left her parents’ house and saw the rainbow and followed it to our yard. It was a beautiful sight.
Chris Look Jr. has been battling cancer for awhile now. But now he is recovering from a stem cell transplant. His sister Joyce was found to be a match, so after going through a series of shots and preparing for the transplant, it was done this past week.
Now Chris is in isolation for some time and I am sure he would love to hear from his Island friends, so here is his address: Chris Look, Longwood Galleria, 400 Brookline avenue, P.O. Box 17 G, Boston MA 02215.
Good luck, Chris, we are praying for you.
The Friends of Edgartown Free Public Library is being revitalized and is conducting a membership campaign. The purpose of the organization is to support library programs in a wide variety of ways ranging from volunteering for tasks in the library to providing modest financial support for special programs such as English as a second language and minor operational expenses. Membership applications are available at the library.
The next meeting of the Friends will be held on Tuesday, July 1, at 11 a.m. at the recently reopened library on North Water street. Everyone who enjoys the library is welcome. Please join us and share your ideas and talents to help the library. Come and become a Friend.
I wish you all a very happy and safe Fourth of July. Enjoy your weekend with the family.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
