Sailing Vessel Will Visit

Vineyard Haven Harbor

The Bermuda-based sail training vessel Spirit of Bermuda will grace Vineyard Haven harbor this coming weekend, Friday, July 25 to Sunday July 27.

The Spirit, part of a youth sailing program in Bermuda, is being welcomed by Sail Martha’s Vineyard, a sister organization here on the Vineyard. Two lucky Sail MV sailors will make the passage back to Bermuda as part of the crew.

This 112-foot sloop teaches young Bermudians in the ways of the sea: its weather patterns, marine environment and wind shifts. The sloop maintains that island’s rich maritime heritage. Although only two years old, the vessel represents the classic lines of traditional sail training vessels.

She will be docked at Tisbury Wharf on Beach Road in Vineyard Haven and open to public for boarding Saturday, July 26 from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 4 p.m.
