Aquinnah police chief Randhi P. Belain is creating a list of names of people who are interested in obtaining deer over the winter that are killed by vehicles. If you are interested in being called when a deer is available, please call Chief Belain at 508-645-2313.
Aquinnah town clerk Carolyn Feltz reminds everyone to register to vote by Oct. 15 if you intend to vote in the November election. To vote at the special town meeting Oct. 21, you must register by Oct. 10. Carolyn is in her office every morning except for Tuesdays. If you have moved within the past few years, please check with your former community to be sure you are not still registered there. The list of those to serve on jury duty is generated from the voting list and all information must be up to date and accurate.
Jessie Little Doe Baird will be starting her Wampanaak language program at the tribal building on Monday evenings at 6 p.m. for all levels. Please join.
Ken Kaufman and Corinne Majno returned to their home in California this week after spending a glorious month at their family home overlooking the Elizabeth Islands. On their way home, they attended a workshop in Sturbridge. We look forward to the arrival of her brothers Luca and Lorenzo in the near future.
Bill and Joan Kistner returned to their home in New York on Monday after a long weekend with our grandson Noah James Manning and his parents Paul and Theresa. We all enjoyed celebrating Bill’s birthday on Friday evening with a most delicious dinner at the Sidecar Café on Kennebec avenue in Oak Bluffs.
Chris Manning returned over the weekend following a two-week vacation in St. John’s, Newfoundland, visiting with friends.
Get well wishes to Julianne Vanderhoop-Mahoney who underwent an emergency appendectomy at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital over the weekend. She is making a snappy recovery following her surgery by Dr. Denise Fraser. Wednesday was pizza night as usual at her Orange Peel Bakery and was successful as always. Julianne plans to continue pizza nights for the next six Wednesdays and possibly later. For just $10 you will have a fun evening with one and all.

Thank you to Tom Dresser for the reminder of the Miles of Memories Walk for Alzheimer’s disease. The walk will begin at noon on Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Little Bridge on the Joseph A. Sylvia State Beach. Registration is $25 and will assist with increased awareness and appreciation of service providers.
