The Lonesome West, a play by award-winning playwright Martin McDonagh, is being performed at the Katharine Cornell Theatre this Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Kristian Seney is directing, and the cast includes Chris Brophy, Rob Myers, Katharine Pilcher and Xavier Powers.

The play is a dark comedy set in rural Ireland, about a pair of thirty-something brothers (played by Mr. Brophy and Mr. Myers,) whose lives consist of an endless series of petty arguments and fights between each other. The local priest (played by Mr. Powers) tries to reconcile the brothers, if only to validate his own life. Also involved is a teenaged girl (played by Ms. Pilcher) who sells the brothers “poteen” (Irish moonshine), and who has a crush on the priest.

The show contains explicit profanity and some violence, and is therefore not recommended for most children. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased at any Mocha Mott’s locations, Aboveground Records, Island Entertainment or at the door on the nights of the show. All proceeds will be donated to WVVY 93.7, Martha’s Vineyard community radio.
