I talked to my brother in Florida and he said that it was cold the night before as it got down into the 50’s and my girlfriend on the other coast said she put a sweater on because it was 45 degrees. So I guess you know what I told them with great humor. I guess that’s all I can say about the weather this week.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Samuel Benjamin and Kelsey Fiske who celebrated their day March 1; Kylie Hathaway, March 2; Camden Emery March 3; Sabrina Carlos, March 4; and Joseph Pinto who celebrates his day today, March 6.

Coo and Donna Cavallo, Pam Dolby’s husband and of course Pam, and Bob and Gail Avakian have returned home after spending time in St. John. There also were Cheryl and Lee Welch. All of them joined up with Michael and Janice Donaroma and Norman and Margaret Rankow. It was reported that it was lots of fun, lots of down time for all and lots of beach time.

Donna and Coo then went on to Tortola where they joined up with Charlie Morano, and young Charlie and Mary Morano, John, Dee and Jack Laird. They then went on to visit Jeff Whipple at King Garden Bay.

Tony and Erika Bettencourt and their girls Kassidy, Megan, and Anne were in Disney over school vacation. They met up with Tony and Melanie daRosa and their sons-in-law and grandchildren. Glenn Searle joined the Bettencourts and enjoyed his first visit to Disney. The highlight of his trip was having met ESPN reporters Mike and Mike.

Our sympathy goes out to the Mosher family for the loss of Gary Mosher. You can not go on without mentioning this man as he was a man of the community. He worked in Edgartown with KT galley as a plumber for many years. He also cleaned probably every furnace in town. But most of all he will be remembered at Mosher’s Photo Shop and his bike rental business in Vineyard Haven by the Steamship Authority and his playing the trumpet in the town band.

Thank you again to our fire department for their quick response to two fires last week. Once again we have to say how lucky we are to have a department that works together and serves us so well.

Don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead tomorrow night. We lose an hour’s sleep but how great will it be to have more sun at the end of the day.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
