Four suspects arrested in November in one of the largest heroin drug busts in Island history will face multiple felony drug charges later this month in Dukes County Superior Court during the spring court session.
The accused are Kaleb C. Garde, 26, of Vineyard Haven; Roseline J. Gaspar, 24, of Vineyard Haven; Garrett J. Gibson, 24, of Oak Bluffs; and Alexander W. Carlson, 22, of Edgartown.
Both Mr. Garde and Ms. Gaspar were indicted on single counts of trafficking heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, three counts of possession of class B drug (cocaine or prescription opiates such as Oxycontin), three counts of possession of class E drug (prescription drugs), dealing drugs near a school and three counts of conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Mr. Gibson and Mr. Carlson were indicted on charges of trafficking heroin, possession of heroin, dealing drugs near a school and three counts of conspiracy to violate drug laws. A total of six suspects were arrested Nov. 18 after the Martha’s Vineyard Drug Task Force raided the Garde family home on Spring street in Vineyard Haven and seized nearly $70,000 in heroin, cash and other drugs.
The Garde home is located near the Tisbury School and a childcare center.
Mr. Carslon is scheduled to be arraigned before Hon. Cornelius J. Moriarty II, an associate justice of the court, at 9 a.m. Monday morning. Mr. Garde, Ms. Gaspar and Ms. Gibson are scheduled to appear before Judge Moriarty on April 24 for pre-trial conferences.
All four suspects have different defense attorneys. Mr. Carlson is represented by Charles Morano, Mr. Garde is represented by Francis T. O’Brien, Ms. Gaspar is represented by Richard Piazza and Mr. Gibson is represented by Drew J. Segadelli.
Also in superior court, two Island men — Michael Ellis, 20, of Edgartown, and Brett Geddis, 18, of Tisbury — accused of attacking and robbing an elderly employee of the Capawock movie theatre in September, will face charges of robbery of someone over the age of 60 and assault and battery.
Mr. Ellis and Mr. Geddis are accused of robbing the theatre’s longtime ticket-taker as he approached the night deposit box at the Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank branch on Main street. Both have extensive criminal records on the Island.
