As part of National Volunteers Week, the Tisbury Council on Aging honored its volunteers on Sunday, April 26, for the work they do for the community. Joyce Stiles-Tucker, director of the council on aging, noted that volunteers serve the community in many ways. They deliver holiday meals, meals on wheels, act as insurance counselors, answer phones at the reception desk, help with food distribution and many other capacities. It has been shown that volunteers save the town and agencies dollars. The council on aging has 30 volunteers. A luncheon was catered by the Mediterranean Restaurant. The council on aging wishes to thank Doug and Leslie Hewson for the wonderful luncheon. And a special thank you goes to all the volunteers.
