There is no change in the weather conditions so I thought we would look at the traffic. All I have to say about that is that it is the Fourth of July and it no longer takes two minutes to go to the post office, so start earlier.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Jessyca Hernandez and Aidan Smith, who both celebrated June 30, Malik Magnuson on July 1, and to Charles Fenske and John Wallace, who both celebrate today, July 3.

Special wishes go out to Bobby Brown, who celebrated his day June 27, and to Ashley Rebello, who celebrated her legal birthday on June 28.

I reported last week about the celebration of the life of Sue Norton Parks and forgot to mention that Stuart Norton and his wife Cathy were a part of the preparation of the service. Also, Stuart, who is also a musician, was able to play with Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish at the Atlantic on Saturday night.

Christine (Chrissie) Louise Mintz returns to the Vineyard this weekend. Accompanying Chrissie at her parents’ South Summer street cottage are, Rebekah D’Antonio and Sarah Jones of New York and Marianne and Michael Brant of Maryland.

The Edgartown School PTO is sponsoring a farmers’ market at the school every Friday from 8 a.m. until noon, where local produce and Island-made products will be available. The first one will be July 10, and they will run until August 28. For more info please call Lucia at 508-733-9834.

It is confirmed! The entire Edgartown High School graduating class of 1959 will be on Island the weekend of July 10 to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Coming from off-Island, in addition to Jimmy Santos and Pat Tyra are Donald Berube, Jean Brown Collison, Jean Francis Laramee, Laurie Doucette, and George Willoughby. There will be a social “hour” from 5 to 7 on Friday evening for everyone ever associated with their class over the 12 years. If you are one of those folk and someone hasn’t contacted you yet it is because someone did not know how to reach you, but you are most welcome. Call Pat at 508-627-8438 for information and a personal invitation.

For the third year in a row, the Edgartown Federated Church will have chowder suppers to support the Island Food Pantry. Supper dates are: July 9, 16, 23, 30, August 6 and 13, at the Federated Church Parish House, 45 South Summer street in Edgartown. $8 for adults and $5 for children, the supper includes a cup of chowder, a salad, tea or lemonade, and a chocolate chip cookie. Suppers will be served from 6 to 7:15 p.m.

Have a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
