Outspoken author, lawyer and political commentator Alan Dershowitz will be the special guest at Sunday’s presentation of The Case for Israel: Democracy’s Outpost, a 77-minute documentary screening at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center.

The film begins at 7:30 p.m. on July 5. Tickets are $15 at the door on Centre street in Vineyard Haven.

In The Case for Israel, Harvard Law School professor Dershowitz rises in vigorous defense of the Jewish state. He contends that Israel is under attack, not only by terrorists who deny its basic right to exist, but also in the court of world opinion, which seeks to marginalize Israel as an alleged human rights pariah that sanctions apartheid.

His most recent book is The Case Against Israel’s Enemies: Exposing Jimmy Carter and Others Who Stand in the Way of Peace.

The film, which premiered in October at the Haifa International Film Festival, presents evidence from leading historians, analysts, legal experts and leaders on both sides of the political spectrum to make the definitive case for Israel’s legitimacy and right to self-defense.
