David Crohan and Friends Play from the Heart at Tabernacle

Pianist David Crohan will present a benefit concert in the Tabernacle Monday, July 13 at 8 p.m.. The concert is to benefit Compassionate Care ALS and Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard. David’s friends include Katie Mayhew, Hugh Taylor, Merrily Fenner, and Tom Billitto. Three of these friends appeared regularly at David’ Island House on Circuit avenue.

One of the most versatile pianists performing today, David Crohan crosses the traditional boundaries between classical and jazz with an ease and sophistication that is the envy of many of his colleagues.

David received his early education at the Perkins School for the Blind in Boston, where he studied classical music. He became the pupil of Avis Charbonnel, who was herself a pupil of the great Franz Liszt. David began making music on the Vineyard in 1964, appearing yearly in concerts at the Tabernacle. He was instrumental in choosing the new Steinway piano which now receives such rave reviews whenever it is heard.

Tickets for the concert are $35 for general admission, and $50 for limited premium seating. Tickets are available at Island Music and Bunch of Grapes in Vineyard Haven, C’est La Vie and the Cottage Museum Shop at the Camp Ground in Oak Bluffs, Above Ground Records in Edgartown, and Alley’s General Store in West Tisbury.
