The Rev. Kevin Pleas will be the guest preacher this Sunday, August 2 at 10 a.m. at Union Chapel. The title of his sermon is Blameless, based on the theme of God talking to Abraham when He said, “Walk before me and be blameless.”

Reverend Pleas has served at local churches in New England and Illinois since graduating from Andover Newton Theological School in 1987. He considers himself a “progressive” Christian, open to the wisdom of all the great world religions, yet being personally committed to the Christian ministry. Since 2002 he has been serving as Senior Minister of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Camden, Maine. He is the son in law of James and Joann Kidd of Oak Bluffs.

The Chapel is nondenominational and welcomes visitors of all faiths. Organ preludes by Garrett Brown commence at 9:40 a.m. and the service begins at 10 a.m. Union Chapel is located at the intersections of Kennebec, Narragansett, and Circuit avenues in Oak Bluffs. The choir consists of Helen Jennings, soprano; Martha Hudson, alto; Kevin Ryan, tenor; and Brad Austin, baritone. Informal summer attire is acceptable.
