Please Adopt Us

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has a few nice animals who need good homes.

The cats are Harry and Cyrus, two lovable, big, black neutered males; Itty Bitty, a sweet shy Balanese; and Belle and Cleopatera, two shy black kittens.

Sophie is the five-year-old springer spaniel who needs to find a home without cats.

All animals are spayed and up to date on their shots.

A disturbing incident happened one night last week. Someone thoughtlessly left a guinea pig in a dirty box outside the shelter door after the shelter was closed. He was there all night and it was just lucky that a raccoon didn’t find him before the shelter opened. Please do not under any circumstances leave an animal when the shelter is closed; it is irresponsible and cruel. If you cannot come to give up an animal during shelter hours, contact the animal control officer in your town and she will make arrangements to contact the shelter manager to pick up the animal or keep it until the shelter opens the next day.

The guinea pig has been named Gulliver and is available for adoption.

The shelter is still in need of cleaning supplies such as laundry soap, bleach, paper towels and extra large garbagebags. We are so grateful for any and all contributions.

Shelter hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
