It is still shorts weather and I was thinking it won’t be long and we will have to get the sweaters out. But we will enjoy the sun as long as Mother Nature is willing to keep us warm.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week.

Special wishes go out to Andrew Kelly, who celebrated his day Sept. 22, and Michael Donaroma who celebrated Sept. 23. We wish Kathy Ivory a happy birthday when she celebrates her day Sept. 27.

Michael and Janice Donaroma have just returned from a two-week trip to Alaska. They enjoyed a cruise and loved watching the whales from the ship and said it was more beautiful than they could imagine.

The beach gang has now moved from the beach to the shed. It is now time for the Patriots games and some of their major supporters gather at the shed to cheer them on. Unfortunately they could not hear us this week but we will still support them no matter what.

Members of the Edgartown High School class of 1959 were saddened to learn that classmate Jean Ann Brown Collison had died suddenly and unexpectedly last week at her home in New Bern, N.C. Jean was here in July for all the reunion events and reportedly enjoyed them all. Arrangements are under the care of the Cotten Funeral Home in New Bern. Her sister Sandy Arnold and husband Dennis left Edgartown earlier this week to drive down for the wake which was Wednesday and the funeral which was held on Thursday.

Our sympathies go out to her family and friends.

A harvest festival and luncheon will be held on Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Federated Church Parish House in Edgartown. There will be crafts, plants, stitchery, baked goods, a drawing, attic treasures and fun for children.

As usual the Edgartown Yacht Club parking lot is full in the morning and evenings between the hours of 8 and 10. The air is filled with the smell of the salt water and of course the aroma of fish that has just been caught and is being filleted on the barge next to the weigh in station. Just watching the people enjoying the activities and the looks on some of the kid’s faces as the fish are being brought in is worth the trip. Of course while you are sitting there you never know if the derby winner might just be weighed in at that time.

I am told that the recently adopted cat at Sweetened Water Farm named Cyrus has been missing for the past couple of weeks. He is black and is blind in one eye. If anyone has seen this cat, please call the shelter at 508-627-8662, or animal control officer Barbara Prada at 508-693-1212 and let them know.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
