African Arts
The African Artists’ Community Development Project will hold its annual meeting on Friday, Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. at the home of Marsha Winsryg, located off New Lane in West Tisbury. The project began in 2004 as a small organization that imports fairly-traded African crafts, sending profits to the Mama Bakhita Center for Disabled Children in Livingstone, Zambia. Now the project also provides educational scholarships, medical grants and small business loans to people related to the Mama Bakhita Center and the artisans. The organization is growing and needs help in any and all areas of operation. All interested are encouraged to come to the meeting. For details, call 508-693-4059.
