The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has three dogs and four cats available for adoption. The dogs include Vito and Louie, the gentle beagles who need some training but will make good pets or hunters with some work. The other dog is P.J., a very gentle, good-natured female pit bull. Don’t let the fact that she is a pit bull deter you from coming to see her; she is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever had at the shelter and she loves people.

The cats are Foosa, a beautiful big black cat who misses his buddy Sushie who was adopted last week; Max and Phoebe, the shy pair who spend a lot of time in their soft cat beds; and Pearl, the elderly white lady who is so gentle and would be a great pet for an older person who has the time to love her.

The shelter needs volunteers who are good at organizing; our mailing list and database need help. We always need cleaning supplies; if you would like to donate laundry detergent, please buy detergent with the letters HE, such as Tide. HE means that the soap is energy efficient and won’t clog up our washing machine. We do a lot of laundry every day, so this would help a lot.

Last week we neglected to thank the Vineyard Veterinary Clinic for all their medical help and advice. It is so convenient to have them right next door and they are always willing to run over and check out our animals and give shots when necessary.
