To pay homage to the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his friend and colleague Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, the Martha’s Vineyard chapter of the NAACP and the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center will cosponsor their 11th annual lay service in tribute to the two men, on Friday, Jan. 22 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hebrew Center on Centre street in Vineyard Haven. All are invited.

Led by Robert Herman and Herbert Foster, the service will feature Dr. James H. Weiss, superintendent of Vineyard schools, speaking on his experiences in the South during the civil rights movement, as well as other readings and songs. Those who participated in the civil rights movement or the March on Washington on August 28, 1963, will have the opportunity to share their experiences.

A light dinner will follow the service and tribute. For more information, call Herb Foster at 508-627-7456, or e-mail herblf@comcast.net.
