Please Adopt Us

The cat population at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is down to one: Pearl, our elderly white cat who has become the shelter mascot. She is happy and comfortable but we would love to find her a home where she can be loved and well cared for in her geriatric years.

The shelter has two dogs: Vito, a brown and white beagle who has lots of energy and needs someone with knowledge of beagles to spend time with him and give him some needed training; and P.J., a Staffordshire terrier who loves people but is not so good with other dogs.

We are constantly receiving requests for kittens, so if you have kittens you want to find good homes for, we would be happy to take them. They should be weaned if you bring them to us without the mother cat, but we also can take the mother; when the babies are weaned and old enough to be adopted we could have the mother spayed and returned to her home. The kittens will have all the appropriate shots before being adopted. We have a special,glassed-in kitten room at the shelter that allows visitors to see them atplay. They are really fun to watch and get a lot of attention. Please call Lisa at the shelter for more information or if y ou have any questions about giving up kittens for adoption. The phone number is 508-627-8662. Shelter hours are Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
