Tisbury Supports Haitian Relief
The earthquake in Haiti has mobilized a global effort to help alleviate the suffering of those affected by that disaster, and this Staurday, the Island is invited to help. Organizer Chris Bahara says, “It is last minute, we know, but the time is now, and on Saturday, we’ll make Martha’s Vineyard the place.”
An all-day silent auction at Mansion House in Vineyard Haven includes items donated by Vineyard businesses, including an iPod from Educomp, a chandelier from Midnight Farm, a membership to Our Island Club and more. Many Tisbury merchants are donating a portion of the day’s sales. Zephrus will offer a lunch special as well as soups to-go, in packaging donated by EcoMV and the Mansion House will donate 10 per cent of health club sales for the day and an afternoon yoga session. All donations are going diectly to Doctors Without Borders.
From 5 p.m. to midnight, Che’s Lounge hosts a benefit concert, featuring live music and beverages provided by Our Market, and Martha’s Vineyard Taxi will donate 20 per cent of receipts to and from Che’s Saturday night. For details on the day’s events, call 917-406-6274.
