Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School students brought home numerous Alliance of Young Artists and Writers Awards sponsored by Scholastic.
Iris Grace, Rose Maidoff and Chelsea Phaneuf all received Gold Keys, the highest level of regional achievement for their General Writing Portfolio submissions. The award core criteria are originality, technical skill and the emergence of a personal voice and vision.
Gold Key awarded works are eligible for the next stage of national competition.
Oona Post’s short fiction received a Silver Key, and both Domonique Aaron and Jess Dupon received honorable mention for poetry.
All told, Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School students received a remarkable 15 per cent of all of the Gold Key awards given for writing portfolios to Massachusetts students.
