Census Counts on Workers

The counting has already begun, but the U.S. Census Bureau is still looking to hire Vineyard residents for the 2010 census.

There are a variety of temporary, part-time jobs that offer good pay, flexible evening and weekend hours, and the chance to work near home. Training courses are under way on the Island, and for people who are out of work or looking to supplement their income, this is an excellent opportunity for employment. Field workers and supervisors are all needed.

For information on how to apply for U.S. Census work, please call 1-866-861-2010 or on the Internet visit 2010censusjob.gov.

The census takes place every 10 years and has a variety of purposes. In addition to counting the population, census figures are used to determine eligibility for certain state and federal monies for cities and towns. It is time to stand up and be counted.
