Well, it has been another week of estimates on chimney cleaning, asbestos removal, oil heat versus gas conversion, and paint jobs. Feels like spring cleaning! Oh, yeah, then I’ll have that to do also. Everyone has been very kind and helpful down here. I took a break from all the paperwork and made it to Dunne’s Pub for Irish music night on Wednesday. Brian Conway’s band did its usual fine performance, but I truly missed seeing my young nephew, Jonathan Gardella, play the violin with the band. Jonathan has moved to Fort Myers, Fla. I did see Heather, his violin teacher who is a band member. Do you know she is giving Jonathan violin lessons on Skype? It’s a miracle.

Much as I love being with Iole, I wish we both were on Island for two of our favorites, Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant, in a free film at our Vineyard Haven library on Sunday, March 28 at 2 p.m. The Audrey Hepburn film festival continues on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. with another classic.

Our Martha’s Vineyard Film Society offers an Italian comedy tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. at the Katharine Cornell Theatre. The title is Mid-August Lunch. Also, mark your calendars for next Friday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. for The Secret of Kells. This is an animated film suitable for the entire family, especially children. It was a 2010 Oscar nominated movie. Again, it will be shown at the Katharine Cornell Theatre.

The birthday bandwagon pulls along Barbara Ivert, Ari Raynayn Siegler, Shirley Robinson, Liz Owens and Anne Bennett today. March 28 is shared by Mary Campos and Michael Hebert. And on April 1 Enoia Preia Dos Rei takes the cake. Many happy returns.
