The Sustainable Book Club, an Islandwide book group which reads and discusses books that examine our relationship with nature, began in 2008 and, after a hiatus in 2009, is back
The group is an opportunity to initiate community conversations and encourage participants to contemplate their impact on our Island and our planet.
The schedule of books and locations is:
Wednesday, April 21, 5:30 p.m. to discuss Collapse by Jared Diamond, at Vineyard Haven Library
Wednesday, May 12, 5:30 p.m. is Dawn Light by Diane Ackerman at Chilmark Library
Thursday, June 17, 5:00 p.m. Song for the Blue Ocean by Carl Safina at Aquinnah Library
Tuesday, July 13, 5:30 p.m. The End of Nature by Bill McKibben at Felix Neck Sanctuary.
It is sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard Library Association, Mass Audubon’s Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, the Trustees of Reservations and other Island conservation organizations.
