Arboretum Intern

The Polly Hill Arboretum announces Justin Free as their 2010 collections management intern. This nine-month internship will offer Mr. Free the opportunity to expand his already substantial knowledge of horticulture. It also will provide him with an in-depth look at curatorial and management practices employed to maintain the arboretum’s diverse living collection.

Mr. Free has a bachelor of science degree in horticultural science and environmental science from Redeemer University and a diploma from the Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture, both in Ontario. Through classes, an internship at the Arnold Arboretum and work experience at a commercial arboricultural operation, he has gained a broad base of practical knowledge.

This and the summer internships at the arboretum contribute to its educational mission, providing each intern with a valuable, professional stepping stone along a path to a career in public horticulture, and providing the arboretum with additional help for maintaining this remarkable landscape.
