Please Adopt Us

This week the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is featuring a very special dog. Winston is a golden retriever-husky cross, almost a year old, and one of the sweetest dogs we have ever seen. Everyone at the shelter has fallen in love with him. He has the temperament of a golden and the exuberance of a husky — he absolutely loves people, loves to ride in cars and go for walks, but he doesn’t like cats very much (this is a husky trait), so we have to find a home for him without cats. We are sure he won’t be at the shelter very long, so if you are interested, please hurry and come to see him. You too will fall in love with him.

Our cats are: Cyrus, a big, lovable black cat; Dixie, a beautiful calico; Phoebe, an orange and white cat; Binx, a shy, sweet black cat with long white whiskers; and Miss Misty, a petite gray tiger who loves everyone who pays attention to her. We also have four all-black male kittens who are not quite old enough to be adopted yet, and their mother, who is really a baby herself and is a real love. We also have a few other cats we expect will be vet-checked and ready to go next week. You can put your name onthe list now, though.

We still need cleaning supplies — especially Arm & Hammer litter.

The shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
