The Polly Hill Arboretum Visitor Center opens for the season on Saturday, May 29, with daily hours from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tours of the grounds are offered everyday at 2 p.m. The grounds are open year-round from sunrise to sunset.

Also Saturday, the arboretum’s plant sale area opens; offering a choice selection of trees, shrubs, and perennials. Arboretum staff have chosen and grown plants that are noted for their superior ornamental qualities and their adaptability to Island conditions, and will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to answer questions and offer advice.

Rounding out the day, executive director Tim Boland will give an illustrated presentation on some of the featured plants from 11 a.m. to noon. Mr. Boland will highlight the ornamental attributes of many of the plants and provide tips on successful culture and garden use, beginning with a talk in the far barn and followed by a walking tour of the grounds.
