Three men, two from the Vineyard and one from Bourne, were charged with rape and indecent assault last week following an incident in early April when they allegedly attacked and sexually abused an exotic dancer from Maine who was paid to perform at a party in Oak Bluffs.

William J. Bernard, 39, of Oak Bluffs; Christopher McNally, 19, of Bourne and Anthony D. Somoano, 28, of Oak Bluffs were arraigned last Thursday on charges of rape and indecent assault and battery.

Oak Bluffs police sought charges after receiving a report from a woman who claimed she was repeatedly attacked and raped during an all-night party in early April at Mr. Bernard’s home at 25 Franklin avenue. A probable cause hearing was held last Thursday, after which the three men were charged and arraigned.

Mr. Bernard is now free on $5,000 bail and Mr. McNally was released on $1,500 bail. Mr. Somoano’s bail was set at $10,000, and he was transported to the Barnstable House of Correction, where he was held for a parole violation.

According to the incident report from Oak Bluffs detective Nick Curelli, the victim first contacted police on April 6 to report she had been raped in the early morning of April 2. The woman told police she lives in Maine and traveled to Mr. Bernard’s home to perform as an exotic dancer.

The three men are due back in court on June 25 for pretrial conference.
