Meet Your Farmer, Eat Your Fill

Forget the freezing aisles of the grocery store this weekend and head to the West Tisbury Farmers’ Market for fresh fruit, flowers and the first spinach and baby kale of the season.

Marking its 36th year, the farmers’ market opens Saturday and will feature vendors from across the Island including Morning Glory Farm, North Tabor Farm, Katama Apiary honey and Whippoorwill Farm.

It’s not only fresh produce. There are Island-made oils and lotions, fresh bread, chocolates and of course egg rolls from the famous egg roll lady.

Kids are welcome, and the market is rain or shine.

The farmers’ market is held at the Grange Hall in the center of West Tisbury, and it will run Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon through Oct. 9.

Wednesday markets begin on June 23 and run through August 25.
