The Vineyard Gazette’s circulation fell slightly in 2010, following the trend seen in newspapers around the country.

Total average paid circulation for the Gazette this year was 8,648, a drop of 2.7 per cent from last year. Circulation had increased slightly in 2008 and again in 2009.

A circulation statement is published on Page Nine in today’s edition, as required by the U.S. Postal Service for all paid circulation newspapers. The statement includes average paid circulation for subscriptions and vendor sales both in and out of county. Sold on the newsstand and through mail subscriptions, the Gazette is circulated throughout the United States and in several foreign countries.

Total average circulation for the Gazette last year was 8,882. The statement includes the peak number of copies sold during the year, which for the Gazette is always in August at the height of the summer season. The peak number this year was 11,125; last year the peak number was 11,922.
