Please Adopt Us

Good morning from the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard. This is a difficult time of year for adopting animals, but all the staff at the shelter hope that there are some animal lovers out there who will stop by and see our beautiful cats. We still have Binx, the black and white female who is an indoor cat; Phoebe, another indoor, ginger and white cat; Dolly, also an indoor cat who is black and white; Gracie, a lovely, soft, long-haired indoor cat who loves to be brushed; Bebe, an indoor-outdoor calico who is very friendly; Oprah, a young tortoiseshell; Hezzy, who looks like a lion and is becoming very friendly; Chester, who is gray and white and very sweet and friendly; Andy, a young (about seven months) gray and white; and Callie, a year-old black cat, also very friendly. All are getting along very well with each other, although Andy is not too sure he wants to be friends so would do best in a home without other cats; we aren’t sure about dogs!

Our one dog is still big Rascal who loves to go for walks and is really sweet but needs a strong person who will be the pack leader. We also still have the two brown and white guinea pigs, Mocha and Piggy Sue, who have their own cage and should be adopted together.

For kitten lovers, we have two darling, female, nine-week-old, black kittens. Please come and see them.

The shelter still needs volunteers, and cleaning supplies are always welcome — bleach, laundry soap (Tide HE is best), paper towels, cat litter (the nonclumping kind, please), cat food both dry and canned (kittens and adult cats). And of course we can always use donations of money to help us keep the shelter running. Thank you so much to all the people who have so generously put donations in our little dog houses at Island outlets.
