Please Adopt Us
The featured animal this week at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is a black Lab cross named Nina. Nina is a handsome black dog with the most beautiful velvet coat. She came to the shelter from a Lab rescue. She loves people, cats and other dogs. She loves to ride in cars and would be the perfect pet for anyone looking for a real buddy. Please stop by to see Nina and take her for a walk.
The cat roster at the shelter includes: a stray from the Surfside Hotel area, a flame point Siamese mix who is so sweet; a pretty little female, all-black cat named Kitty Kat; a neutered male orange tiger named Chopper; and a long-haired, big, beautiful ginger-colored male named Alexander.
Please remember if you have lost a cat or dog to call the animal control officer in your town (508-693-1212 is the nonemergency line at the Island communications center) and also call the shelter at 508-627-8662. You can also find us on our Web site at Dukes County.org (click on The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard), or become our friend on Facebook.
A reminder for anyone surrendering a cat or dog to the shelter: please make sure that your cat is in a carrier and your dog is on a leash. If you do not have a carrier, please call the shelter and we will be happy to loan you one.
And last but not least we still have five guinea pigs who would make wonderful pets at a nursery school or in a classroom. They are lots of fun to watch and make sweet pets.
If you would like to purchase a brick to honor an animal or loved one, please stop by the shelter. The hours are Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The bricks make great gifts for the animal lover who has everything.
