In its first full season, the Anthony H. Meyer junior golf trust provided financial assistance for junior golfers throughout the Island.

It was always Mr. Meyer’s wish to help the youth of the Island become interested in the game of golf because he was so passionate about the ideals and concept of the sport.

The concept of the trust is to provide equipment, promote education and to provide lessons for any youth on the Island and to work closely with Island golf clubs to foster continuing interest in the game.

Working in conjunction with the Martha’s Vineyard Boys’ and Girls’ Club, the trust was able to fund a variety of programs during the summer months.

Junior golf equipment was purchased for Island clubs for general use at clinics and for practice.

Island club professionals Robbie Rush, Don Costello, Kyle Fiore and Chet Nowak provided much assistance for over 40 kids in the form of junior clinics and private lessons at no cost to the junior golfers.

The trust was able to buy several new full sets of clubs for some deserving young golfers.

In the future the trust hopes to develop a significant scholarship program and a junior golf league.
