Structural steel work is complete, a concrete floor has been poured and underground utilities have been buried. And now the $6.8 million Tisbury emergency services building opposite the Tisbury School on West Spring street enters a new phase in construction.

Beginning on Wednesday, work crews began the light-gauge metal framing. Walls throughout the interior and exterior will go up next. Bob Mullen, project superintendent for Seaver Construction Inc., said the next phase in the project takes from four to six weeks to complete. “We’d like to have the building enclosed by Christmas,” he said.

Groundbreaking took place in April. The facility will house the fire department, ambulance service and emergency management department for the town. A June completion date is planned.
