Please Adopt Us

Last week was one of the most successful weeks we have ever had at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard — four cats and two dogs were adopted by loving families.

The shelter still has some beautiful cats and one dog who need homes. The cats are: Angel and Tangerine, both flame point Siamese; Tinkerbelle, a sweet chubby tabby and white cat with double paws; Oprah, a tortoiseshell; Callie, Woodie, Binx and Dolly, our four black cats; Cookie, a calico lap cat; Chopper and Alexander, beautiful big yellow tigers; and Maxine, another tabby lap cat.

All are spayed or neutered and have had all their shots.

There is one dog, Rascal, who is big and needs a strong owner who will be the pack leader.

And finally there is one bunny named Jack and three guinea pigs.

There is an old saying: “Until one has loved an animal, a part of the soul lies unawakened.” Won’t you please stop by the shelter and see all of our wonderful animals?

The hours are Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.

All are invited to join Lisa in the Edgartown parade on Saturday, Dec. 11. Be at the parking lot of the Edgartown School at 10:45 a.m. and bring your dog — on a leash of course — and join in the parade fun.

Looking for a gift for the animal lover on your list? Please stop by the shelter; we have some great books and other unusual gifts. Or consider a contribution to the Susie Fund which was established to help pay for medical expenses for animals who need veterinary care, certainly a worthwhile cause.
