A new book detailing all the resources available to the elderly and those who care for them on the Island is now available. The Dukes County Health Council has released an updated edition of the Caregivers Home Journal: A Resource Guide for Caregivers and Elders on Martha’s Vineyard.

The slim guide provides up-to-date contact information for family members and other caregivers about local and state resources for the elderly, as well as reading lists with advice for many health, logistical and emotional concerns. These range from recreation, transportation, home care, nutrition, housing, financial and legal help, to change in behavior or memory, misuse of medications or alcohol, depression and grieving. The Journal also includes resources and readings to support caregivers coping with the day-to-day challenges of elder care.

The Caregivers Home Journal is now available top the public at all Martha’s Vineyard public libraries, the Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury and Up-Island councils on Aging/senior centers and the Vineyard Health Care Access office on New York avenue in Oak Bluffs.
