Three men were arrested on drugs and gun charges Wednesday after a search in an Oak Bluffs home revealed 175 marijuana plants, a shotgun rifle and ammunition, according to a press release from the Oak Bluffs police department.

Brothers Joseph DePriest, 41, and Luke DePreist, 31, face charges in Edgartown district court of illegal cultivation of marijuana and weapons violations, Oak Bluffs police chief Erik Blake said, after a search warrant was executed at their home at 2 Dreamers Way in Oak Bluffs.

A third person, Richard Morris, 56, of Oak Bluffs, was present at the time of the search, about 5:15 p.m. He was also arrested after a simultaneous search of his home at 2 James Place in Oak Bluffs discovered heroin, prescription pills including Adderall, Valium and Xanax belonging to others, marijuana and more than $4,000 cash. Police said he will face a range of drugs changes.

Both men posted bail on Thursday morning and will be arraigned on Friday.

The drugs were recovered and marijuana seized by police.

Mr. Morris already is facing charges in the district court involving drugs and breaking and entering.

He also is under indictment in Dukes County Superior Court after allegedly selling copper stolen from NStar to a scrap metal yard in Worcester in April of last year. Upon his return to the Vineyard, the police press release says, he was arrested by state police, who found some 50 grams of heroin in the tail light of his vehicle. He faces a probation hearing in superior court on Friday.

Thursday’s searches involved members of the Oak Bluffs police department, Martha’s Vineyard Drug Task Force and a K-9 from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department.

The investigation was led by officer Jeff Trudel and assisted by officer James Morse.
