Please Adopt Us
The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has a few nice animals who need good homes.
Last week the shelter featured a beautiful dog named Sasha who was quickly adopted. Now a loving dog named Bella has come to take her place. She is a boxer cross and as loving a dog as anyone could hope for. She is completely house-trained, loves children, adults, cats and other dogs. She minds well and would make a wonderful family pet. Please come to see her.
Our cat population is dwindling and it seems strange not to have a room full of playful kitties all looking for attention. Binx, our beautiful black cat with the long white whiskers, has been at the shelter for such a long time, and we know that she would make someone a wonderful lap cat. She is a little shy and is always curled up in her cozy cat tree so she sometimes goes unnoticed, but please ask to see her — you will love her. Other cats are Phoebe, a short-haired ginger and white cat; Alexander, a big long-haired four-year-old who loves to curl up in a box; Woody, a long-haired black cat with a wonderful personality and lots of love to give; Maxine, our only tabby who is always curled up in her bed on a shelf and loves to be petted; Duchess, the sweetest cat we have had in a long time who is two years old and is a light gray calico. In a couple of weeks there will be two more beautiful cats ready to be adopted; they still need to be to be spayed and given their immunizations and then they will be ready to go.
And don’t forget the Susie Fund which is used to pay the medical expenses of animals that need to be seen by a vet. The shelter is funded wholly by donations. Contributions may be sent to the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard, P.O. Box 190, Edgartown MA 02539, with a notation on the check.
The shelter hours are Wednesdays 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The telephone number is 508-627-8662. Volunteers are needed.
