Let’s Move
Let’s Move Martha’s Vineyard, a community health initiative funded through the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and the Farm Neck Association, will be starting a free, small pilot program that will run for three months from March 13 to June 12. The committee invites people who may be concerned about their weight and that of a child to contact us. The committee plans to assemble 10 teams of three people who are concerned about their weight.
Each team will include a child or teenager aged 10 to 18, a parent in the same household as the child, and a senior over 65 from the same family or town. With the help of teammates, individuals will track daily activity with the use of one of the latest pedometers, food consumed and sedentary screen time with a television or computer. The goal will be to improve healthy practices as fostered by the national Let’s Move! initiative, with the creative use of technology, improved feedback mechanisms, intergenerational support and informal social networking.
All information will be kept strictly confidential. To learn more or sign up for this free program, please go to the Web site letsmovemv.org.
