It rained recently and the snow and ice, for the moment, are nowhere to be seen. The grass is a bit forlorn, brownish and sagging under the weight of winter’s residue. But soon the Island will turn green again. And while that can foretell many things, it definitely means spring and summer camp are not far away.

The Farm Institute has just opened up their camp registration for all those young farmers who have been stuck in the house growling about the lack of cows and piggies in their lives.

There are after-school programs for ages ten and up, wee farmers for ages two to four and a full array of summer camp options for ages two to fifteen.

And so adults don’t feel left out of the barn, the Farm Institute is now offering, in collaboration with ACEMV, classes for adults who want to learn how to design, develop and construct their own solar greenhouse in a four-part workshop beginning in March.

Check out farminstitute.org or call Sidney Morris at 508-627-7007, extension 104. to find out the full camp schedules and to register.
