I hope everyone enjoyed themselves last weekend. I know a lot of gardening got done, and in my yard the mulch was put down. It was so beautiful and warm. Then on Wednesday we thought we would surely need a boat to get around. But as we all know, April showers bring May flowers. However, with the rain on Wednesday it may have washed all the seeds away.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Mariah Donahue, who celebrated her day April 9; David Macias, April 10; Joshua Willoughby, April 13; Daniel Costello, Dennis Goulart, Juan Sanchez Roa and Thomas Weston 3rd, who all celebrated April 14; and to Elon Binder and Paulo Pereira Jr., who celebrate their day today, April 15.

Everyone is probably taking a sigh of relief after the end of this week trying to get their taxes done. But we have a few extra days as the postmark can be on April 18th this year.

Prayers go out to Barbara Polleys Parker, who is recuperating from surgery in Boston.

Welcome home to Jeff Donaroma, who has returned from his winter in California.

His dad, Michael, has been back and fourth from St. Johns, but the Donaroma boys have to bribe Janice home with warm weather, so with luck it will be warm by the end of the month so she and Mr. Goatee can return.

Amy Gowell’s father, Bill Hahn, is one of the personalities covered in the recently published book, Boston Radio: 1920-2010, by Donna Halper. The book includes two photographs of Bill with Duncan MacDonald of Vineyard Haven, when she and Bill were cohosts of the Yankee Home and Food Show, which was heard daily for a number of years on the 32 stations of the Yankee Network.

Patrick W. Barrett 3rd, son of Mr. and Mrs. T.O. Johnson of Edgartown, formerly of Marblehead, will be attending Suffolk University School of Law in the fall of 2011. Patrick is a graduate of Marblehead High School and University of Massachusetts, Boston. Congratulations, Patrick.

Have a great week, and keep the home candles burning.
