The Vineyard Tennis Center women tennis players traveled to Falmouth for an interclub match in March. Both Falmouth Sports Center and the Vineyard Tennis Center played first time women’s doubles team pairings.

Doreen Rezendez and Susan Stevens hosted the longest rallies of any team, taking one hour to play, and narrowly lost their first set 6-7. They came back in their second set to a 5-4 score before time ended their match.

Debbie Rosenthal and Dian Morgan got caught with a strong opposing team who honed in their hard, deep return of serves and ground strokes. They bowed to their opponents 1-6, 2-6.

Ellen Berube and Sharon Spinney teamed up as past partners. Their opponents were able to capitalize on the overhead and the volley. The Vineyard team lost 2-6, 1-6.

Michelle Bettencourt debuted in her first tennis match with Susan Johnson. They defended very well against an aggressive team. Their entire time on court took them to a first set tiebreaker, where they were leading 5-3 before an injury closed down the match.

The Vineyard plans to host the Falmouth Sports Center in May.
