Take a break while you still can: Island residents may stay for nearly-free at the Winnetu Oceanside Resort, where soon the rooms will be packed with vacationers. The one-bedroom suite is free of charge (apart from a $25 housekeeping fee) when Islanders enjoy a meal at the resort’s ocean view Lure Grill.

The deal is good Wednesdays through Saturdays from now until May 15, subject to availability, and to be eligible, you must order at least two adult entrees per accommodation, per night of stay — the entrees range from $24 to $38. The new executive chef, Aaron Wratten, formerly with a Relais and Chateaux restaurant in western Puerto Rico, will present a menu of new American cuisine.

Each one-bedroom suite accommodates up to two adults and three children (the Winnetu was recently ranked by Parents Magazine as New England’s best family beach resort) and features an ocean, dune or pool view from your balcony or patio. All guests may enjoy complimentary use of the Winnetu’s tennis courts and fitness facility.
