Richie Bartlett of the Orioles hit a grand slam during Saturday’s game against the Reds, but the Orioles were nonetheless outslugged 11-9.

Ben Peters threw three scoreless innings for the Marlins in his pitching debut, helping his team to a 14-3 victory over the Rays. The Rays came back in their next game, however, winning 16-12 against the Orioles. Andrew Morehead and Keaton Aliberti of the Rays had seven strikeouts between them.

The Twins remain undefeated after three games.

Two of Saturday’s major league games were close battles, with the Cardinals and Tigers taking one-run wins against the Cubs and As, respectively. Zach Fullin of the Tigers sent John Morris home on a single in the sixth for the go-ahead run in the 12-11 victory. Tigers’ pitcher Michael Habekost struck out nine and walked two.

Tristan Araujo hit a two-out, two-RBI triple to get things started for the Cardinals, who fought to a 6-5 win. Tristan turned in a solid relief effort on the mound as well. On the Cubs’ side, Jacob Cardoza was 3-for-3, and Joe Davis kept the Cardinals scoreless in the last two innings. Joe combined with fellow Cubs pitcher Chris Mayhew for 10 strikeouts during Wednesday’s game against the Tigers.

In the Saturday Pirates-Red Sox matchup, Curtis Fournier gave up one run in five innings to lead the Pirates to a 10-5 win. Red Sox pitchers Wilson Slayton and Jeff Cimeno combined for 11 strikeouts in five innings. Jeff also had eight strikeouts in Tuesday’s game against the Cardinals.
