Please Adopt Us

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has some very beautiful and unusual cats and kittens that are ready for adoption, and some kittens who will be ready in a couple of weeks that you just have to see to believe. Please stop by the shelter and put your name on our list. They are too numerous to list here but they are just waiting for the right person to take them home.

Our beautiful adult cats are Skippy, a sweet lovable Seal Point Siamese; Snowshoe, a brindle tabby with a distinctive white stripe on her face who is a most loving lap cat; Binx, a black and white cat with long white whiskers; Faith, a three-month-old black cat with a sweet personality; Brown Bear, a dark brown Siamese-Abyssinian cross; Foxy Lady, a tortoiseshell; Maxine, a brown tabby; Charlie, a tuxedo male; Sam, an all-black male; Snuggles, a black cat with a white patch under her chin; and Chloe, a young brindle and black kitty. Any one of these cats would make a perfect pet.

We have two very special bunnies named Thumper and Boo Boo; Thumper is a lop-eared male who has just been altered and Boo Boo is a dwarf black and white bunny. Both would make wonderful pets for a young or even an old person who wants a bunny that likes to snuggle. And Grace, our sweet little guinea pig, is a stray who would love to go home with just the right person.

This is a plea from everyone at the shelter — if you have an animal you can no longer care for, whatever the reason, please do not abandon that animal along the side of the road, hoping that someone will come along and take it home. It just doesn’t happen and most likely the animal will be hit by a car. It is cruel and unnecessary to abandon an animal; the shelter is here for you and will take the animal in and do our best to find it a loving home.

Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
