There are bells for alarms, for church services, for the striking of noon. There are dinner bells, at least somewhere one still hopes, and school bells and maybe even bells when angels get their wings.

And then there are the Merrimack Valley Ringers, seventeen musicians in all, who travel the Northeast ringing in melodies ethereal and true. On Friday, June 3 they are crossing the Sound to play at the West Tisbury Congregational Church. The evening is hosted by the West Tisbury Congregational Bell Choir and begins with a potluck supper at 5:30 p.m. The concert starts at 7 p.m.

The repertoire for the evening is described this way: “We are celebrating our simple gifts ... think of green pastures, fragrant breezes and the simple things in life.”

A small donation is requested to pay for traveling expenses.
