Please Adopt Us

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has a great many adult cats for adoption; all are well trained and loving and deserve to have a home of their own. The cats who have been there the longest are Binx, Maxine, Faith, Foxy Lady, Socks, Chloe, and Rascal. Our new cats are: Misty, an all-black cat; Annabelle, a tuxedo (black with white markings); Liam, a young male tuxedo who is very sweet and gentle; Karate, another black cat; Fisher, another short-haired black cat; Seila, a very sweet two-year-old black cat; Magic, a beautiful Manx tabby who was brought to us by the animal control officer from Edgartown as a stray.

We have two nice guinea pigs — Grace and Daisy, both looking for homes — and one beautiful bunny named Boo, who loves to be held and cuddled.

Is there someone who would love to have a Jack Russell terrier? One has just come to the shelter and there was no more information at press time; if you are interested please call.

There will be a fundraiser this Saturday in Oak Bluffs to benefit the shelter; it is a shucking contest from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. And there will be a celebration of pets at Sunset Lake in Oak Bluffs on Saturday, June 18. All animals are welcome and the event will include a blessing of them. Please make sure dogs are leashed and other animals are in crates; there will be a dog parade and lots of food. The event will be from noon to 2 p.m. It is held every year and is lots of fun for all ages.

Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
