Chilmark is missing Danny Bryant. For so long he was a frequently met neighbor of many of us and we are saddened by his unfortunate fall and death. He was larger than life in so many ways. He loved all that the Vineyard offered in its natural state. He was loved by dogs, feared by deer and much loved and appreciated by most of us. He was a total outdoorsman and could entertain with tales of his adventures for hours. We offer condolences to his many friends and his family. We will miss him greatly.

Chilmark is bursting with people and people news, so that is what we will focus on this week. Our weather is beginning to seem more like summer; expectations are high that the season is beginning!

Congratulations to Jeff and Amelia Bazanson of Bridgewater and Chilmark on the birth of their great-grand-son, Jayden Issac, born on March 1 to Daniel Gomes and Amissa of Easton. Aleta Bazanson is little Jayden’s grandmother.

Janet Weidner is home on D.H.’s Hill after an interesting trip to Ireland with her sister. They went to research their roots on their mother’s side in County Galway. They visited the little towns that the family came from, Loughrea and Gort, and tracked down many points of information. They visited an estate that their great-grandfather worked on in the 1860s. While there, the sisters climbed Croagh Patrick, a mountain in Galway and they drove around Connemara.
