Yay, Bruins! We sweated that one out. I happen to know that a very creative neighbor of mine, Joe Cormier, handmade a replica of the Stanley Cup and has had it in his front window in preparation for the championship. So we actually have the Stanley Cup on Island now.

Another champion, Michael Ovios, is being celebrated tonight at the Tisbury School from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Bring a potluck dish, a Mr. Ovios story to share – and Lord knows there are plenty of them! — and you are invited to bring a project you made in his class. I actually know of families of three generations that have something Mr. Ovios taught them to make. It will be a masterful celebration of a man who left us too soon.

The Unitiarian Universalist Society of Martha’s Vineyard holds its annual yard sale and party tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Stevens Chapel at 238 Main street. There will be raffles, crafts, books, art, antiques, food – you name it, we have it. The sale and party goes on rain or shine. I’ll see you there.

Catch the monthly mini-book sale at our library tomorrow from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be bargain bags of books and free items as well. This is always a good place to pick up gifts and summer reading.

The Gravestone Girls, whose mission is to “Keep Our Dead Alive,” present a virtual tour called Welcome to the Graveyard centered on the Island’s 31 cemeteries. Catch this interesting piece of history next Tuesday, June 21, at 7 p.m. in the program room of our library.

The Martha’s Vineyard Museum is hosting a lawn reception this evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on their campus at 59 School street in Edgartown. You will be able to tour the new displays in the 18th century Cooke House. A real treat will be the group from Martha’s Vineyard Capoeira giving guests a demonstration of traditional Afro-Brazilian dance. The museum is open Monday through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Get more news at mvmuseum.org.

Tomorrow night’s indie award-winning film, Littlerock, will be shown at the Katharine Cornell Theatre at 8 p.m. This is an intriguing story of two Japanese siblings who visit the United States for the first time and end up in the San Francisco area. I can say no more. See mvfilmsociety.com for more news on this wonderful group and their offerings for the summer.

Anniversary bouquets go out to Martin and Gail Becker on June 19. Stephen and Marina Kaufman celebrate on June 21.

The birthday bandwagon pulls along Gregory B, Joan Murphy, Tim Funk, Valerie Pachico and Kelly Henry today. June 18 is claimed by Regina Jannace. June 19 is shared by Peg Jackson, Julio Bueno, Antoe Mitchell and Benjamin Eli Tichauer. June 20 is a party for Laura Mitchell, Khalil Khalil and John O’Donnell. June 21 honors Denise Civetta. June 22 belongs to Michelle Alton and Pam Bahal. And on June 23 Charley Wulschleger and Byron Kennedy take the cake. Many happy returns.
