Condolences to the family and friends of Diana Bardwell, who passed away this week. She will be missed by her many friends across the Vineyard.

Sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Donald L. Britt, who passed away on June 22 in Portland, Maine. We shared more than 20 years of friendship together with our blended families, travels along the East Coast from Maine to the Carolinas, lots of tears and lots of laughter and unforgettable life moments. We entertained family and friends often while residing in Sengekontacket, Tower Ridge and Aquinnah. He will certainly be missed by his many friends, especially on the Vineyard.

Aquinnah town clerk Carolyn Feltz has Philbin Beach stickers available for Aquinnah residents at the town hall from Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Resident parking passes are also available.

Bill and Joan Kistner returned to their home in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Wednesday after spending the week with our grandson, Noah James Manning, and especially to celebrate his five years of immense joy in our lives. We enjoyed family dinners, they went out to Amy and Scott’s home for their birthday celebrations, and thank you to Capt. Buddy Vanderhoop for the donation of a striped bass for dinner. They also enjoyed the last T-ball game of the season, picnics at the beach, and the grand opening of 7a Foods. They have returned home for a rest until the next time.

Congratulations to Dan Sauer and Nonie Madison on the opening of the 7a on Friday. Their first day was a sell-out and hopefully a forecast for their future. Great menu items, affordable prices, local foods, all in a new, clean and friendly atmosphere. All the best to them in this endeavor.

Mrs. Hannah L. Malkin has arrived for her summer sojourn. She was accompanied on her trip by her nephew, Eric Malkin, and his wife, Bobbie, and their friends, Ken and Bonnie.

Happy 30th anniversary wishes to Barry and Dorothy Sullivan as they celebrate their special day on June 27. They spent their honeymoon in Edgartown from the end of June to July 1981 and now celebrate from their Bayberry Lane home.

Barry and Dottie have arrived for their summer sojourn on Island. They vacationed on the Vineyard for many summers until they had the opportunity to buy a house in 1995 that had been owned by Agnes Clark. Miss Clark was the secretary of the late Dr. Don Hare of Rochester and Aquinnah. The Sullivan family still resides in Rochester during the winter months. They have four adult children, the youngest just graduated from Coastal Carolina University in May. All four of their children, Jackie, Pat, Dan and Katie, have worked summers as camp counselors at the Chilmark Community Center. This is the first year when there will not be a Sullivan working there. The eldest Sullivan daughter worked at the Old Sculpin Gallery for several years. Their son Dan now works for David Giles Landscaping in Aquinnah. They all enjoy spending several months here each summer season where they have many visitors through the summer and fall as they are both from large families. Their oldest daughter, Jackie, will be married on July 28, 2012 at St. Elizabeth’s Church with the wedding reception at their Aquinnah home. To round out their family, they have a yellow Lab named Marley and two cats, Mr. Kitty and Sadie. Enjoy the season.

Condolences to the family and friends of Kenneth Sullivan, whose services were held in Wareham on Monday. Ken had worked at the Vineyard Haven Post Office for many years.

For those who may be interested, I have listened to the more than 100 messages left on my answering machine over the past six months. It is now free and clear to leave more which I promise to answer in a more timely fashion.
