Tennessee Williams Tribute
You know about A Streetcar Named Desire. You also know about The Glass Menagerie, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Rose Tattoo and on and on. The work of Tennessee Williams is celebrated on stage and screen, but if for some reason you haven’t seen or read his work, the time is now.
He was born Thomas Lanier Williams III, and this year marks the 100th anniversary of Tennessee Williams’s birth. Here on the Island the Vineyard Playhouse is celebrating with an evening of short plays, some of which have never been staged here before.
Entitled Original Acts, the plays are collected in the book The Magic Tower and Other Plays. They include The Dark Room, The Pretty Trap, Interior Panic, and I Never Get Dressed Till after Dark on Sundays.
Previews of the show begin on Thursday, July 14 at 8 p.m. Opening night is Saturday, July 16 at 8 p.m. The play runs Tuesdays through Saturdays through August 6.
Preview seats are $25 and regular ticket prices are $35 or $30 for seniors and juniors (25 and under).
